"Michelle Chase". This Los Angeles doctor is now being
investigated.
Methadone has traditionally been prescribed as a supervised
treatment for heroin addiction. More recently, some doctors
have been prescribing methadone for pain relief as well. While
not as addicting as heroin or as life-threatening, methadone
is a controlled substance with addictive properties and some
serious side effects.

the U. S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued a public health
advisory regarding methadone on November 29, 2006. The advisory
states that some of the side effects of methadone can be life-threatening
as it may cause dangerous changes in heartbeat and breathing in
some patients.
Anna Nicole Smith's 20-year-old son, Daniel died from an overdose
of methadone, Zoloft and Lexpro on September 10, 2006, three days
after Smith had given birth to daughter, Dannielynn.
