Pain Killer Addiction Gets Nurse in Hot Water
According to a story in WISN, a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital
in West Bend, Wisconsin has been fired by hospital administrators
when she was found to have dipping into her patients' pain killer
medication to feed her own addiction.
| The nurse has admitted
to her pain killer addiction but not before being charged with
six felonies regarding fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance.
According to St. Joseph Hospital administrators, the nurse
was accessing morphine from a dispensing machine of behalf
of her patients, then drinking some of the liquid.

The nurse has admitted to taking some of the pain killer medication
meant for the patients and replacing the portion she had ingested
by injecting saline solution into the morphine bottles. Hospital
officials were quick to point out that they were able to remove
the bottles of pain killer from circulation before any of the medicine
made it to the patients.
